Matheny, West Virginia - August 1997

I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning. I'm still not, but my husband wanted me to tell you. It was in Matheny, WV in August of 1997. Matheny is a small residential area with wooded hills on all sides and a creek with a concrete bridge crossing it. It was a clear night at around 11:30 p.m. I was sitting alone on the front porch of my Uncle's house, which sits on a hill overlooking the area, talking on the phone with my now husband. I noticed that all of the dogs in the area seemed to be barking instead of the usual one or two. I've been around dogs my whole life and these dogs sounded scared. Anyway, there was a streetlight that allowed part of the neighbors yard to be seen. I saw some movement in the shadows before this person or thing stepped in the light. It was only a few seconds and I only saw it from the waist but it was tall and covered with dark brown hair. It was walking very quickly. It walked back into the shadows and I heard two large splashes in the creek followed by sounds of it walking on the opposite creek bank.
